Free help and advice for residents in Maidstone

7 March 2005

the advice surgery at Yalding Village Hall is a great idea which gives easy access to advice and is open to everyone.

Rachel Boycott, Kent Energy Centre

A multi-agency advice surgery will be taking place on the 15th March 2005 at the Primrose Club, Yalding Village Hall, Lyngs Close, Yalding for the residents of Maidstone Borough Council area.

The event is supported by the npower Health Through Warmth Community Projects Grants Scheme, and a total of 10 agencies will be there to give advice and support to local residents.

For example, staff from the Pension Service and the Kent Benefits Partnership will be on hand to give advice to citizens on how to maximise all benefit entitlement. Many people are currently unaware of their rights to benefits or are unsure of all those available to them. Dropping into Yalding Village Hall for a few minutes on the 15th March could make a big difference to their income and remove worries about how to pay bills.

Advice will also be available on keeping safe and warm in the home, saving energy, grants and discount schemes, aids and adaptations for the home, consumer rights/debt and health issues.

Kent Energy Centre will also be offering free stuff to residents including free low energy light bulbs

The full list of agencies that are attending are: npower Health Through Warmth, Kent Energy Centre, The Pension Service, Parish Council, Neighbourhood Watch, Citizens Advice Bureau, Citizens Rights for Older People, Kent Association for the Blind, Kent Benefits Partnership and Hyde Housing.
