HotSpots

Targeting Energy Efficiency Installations

HotSpots is an EST innovation project, funded in March 2004. The scheme uses GIS technology to correlate data from Home Energy Checks and Local Authority databases in order to identify neighbourhoods where EnergySmart can be best targeted.

The project develops scheme 'targeting strategies' for each of the partner Local Authorities, and follows these up with borough-customised marketing campaigns for EnergySmart.

Through this work it is linking with Local Authority strategy: Community Plans, HECA strategies, Climate Change Strategies, and Fuel Poverty strategies in particular. In addition to providing the backbone of this project, these targeting strategies provide an effective mechanism for promoting partnership working.

For more information about HotSpots or if you are interested in setting up a similar scheme in partnership with us, contact David Shewan at CEN.
