Affordable Warmth

Working to remove Fuel Poverty

It is thought that there are as many as 7.5 million households in England alone whose fuel spending is not adequate to heat their homes properly: the vast majority of these are vulnerable people

Every UK household deserves satisfactory heating in their home & CEN provide a range of services to ensure that vulnerable householders get the assistance they need.

The provision of Affordable Warmth is a complex issue which requires an integrated approach: our schemes are designed to identify fuel poor households and to provide them with the assistance they need to achieve affordable warmth.

  • Coldbusters grant schemes - managing local authority grant budgets to provide energy efficiency measures through the CEN Installer Network. Coldbusters is CEN's flagship scheme, and has been running since our foundation in 1997.
  • Referral and partnership schemes - engaging with health, social care & community involvement workers to ensure that help reaches the most vulnerable & hardest to reach; forming relationships with agencies to ensure residents get access to a wide range of energy, income maximisation & related services.
