Since LESP was set up in Kent in 2002 it has:
- attracted in excess of £500,000
investment into sustainable energy projects in Kent during 2003.
- created an active renewable energy network of over 70 organisations
with an action plan for the facilitation of installations.
- assisted the development of installation programmes with funding
support for differing technologies and client groups including
Mini CHP, Solar thermal and PV, Hydro, social housing and schools
feasibility
studies.
- worked with social housing providers to help them access Energy
Efficiency Commitment funding, tackle fuel poverty and provide
support for renewable energy installation
- raised the profile of sustainable energy with over 40 profile
raising events and presentations with the support of 3 local MPs
and other
strategic stakeholders.
- increased media attention with TV coverage for fuel poverty, renewable
energy, the Kent Renewable energy network and earth homes.
- collected 132 personal pledges for sustainable energy made from
a range of senior officers and councillors.
- influenced 44 strategies and policies including 12 of the countys
14 community strategies with targets included for energy efficiency,
affordable warmth, sustainability and renewable energy.
- developed and encouraged uptake of the Coldbusters fuel poverty
reduction scheme in 3 districts of the county.
- produced a quarterly information newsletter for stakeholders.
As a result of LESP activity CEN has built upon its identity as
an expert agency offering genuine support to local authorities, Councillors,
senior officers and related organisations.
