The
half-day Site Energy Review considers how energy is managed
and outlines sustainable energy measures that will reduce energy
consumption
and
save money.
The
Thomas Farley pub in Croydon will reduce its emissions
of carbon dioxide by 6.5 tonnes per annum by switching
to low energy lighting. Savings will be £700 per
year with a 5 month payback. The total cost of re-lamping
the pub was only £300,
a cost which will be saved in less than 5-months.
Measures range from occupancy
sensors for lighting and better insulation and heating controls,
to variable speed drives, low energy lighting and energy efficient
heating.
The in-depth report highlights the potential savings
that can be achieved through various measures or activities. Where
appropriate, a ‘payback’ time is provided - an estimate
of the amount of time it takes for the measure to pay for itself
through
reduced
energy
spend. Paybacks are often less than three years: measures such
as low energy lighting can have paypacks of just months.
