Local Forums:
South West London HECA/LASP Forum
Regular meetings are held between the SWL LASP and HECA officers
in the region, to share experiences and ideas, and to take a co-ordinated
approach to sustainable energy activities in the borough. For example,
during Energy Efficiency Week 2003 the local authorities, in co-operation
with the SWL EEAC, designed a solar competition, where the householder
who made the most energy efficiency improvements during the time
of the competition won a solar hot water heating system.
London Renewables Steering Group
Set up in spring 2003, London Renewables is working with the London
Energy Partnership to ensure that London meets its renewable energy
targets as set in the Mayor's Energy Strategy. London Renewables
promotes the uptake of renewables in the capital. In particular,
its programme focuses on increasing the amount of renewable energy
technologies used in new buildings and developments.
Its programme, 'London Renewables - energy for our future' is match
funded by the Department of Trade and Industry.
London Renewables is an independent body comprising representatives
of the GLA and The Association of London Government, Imperial College
London, The Government Office for London, London First , London Sustainability
Exchange, The London Development Agency, Solarcentury , EDF Energy,
Creative Environmental Networks, Renewable Power Association and
The London Environment Coordinators Forum
Renewable Energy Action for London (REAL) Partnership
The activities carried out under the REAL initiative are steered,
and implemented, by members of the partnership, which includes
23 local authorities, London Sustainability Exchange, Energy Solutions,
Energy Saving Trust, London Renewables, and the funding partners,
which include Association of London Government, London Energy,
New Opportunities Fund, Scottish Power, and the SEED Programme.
Croydon Environment Partnership
The Croydon Environment Partnership is responsible
for the development of environmental policy within the Croydon Strategic
Partnership.
As part of the Environment Partnership’s activities the LASP
is also involved in the Partnership’s Energy sub-group, which
is responsible for developing energy policy for the borough.
Richmond Building Responsibly Group
The Building Responsibly Group (BRG) was set up as a special interest
group by the Richmond upon Thames LA21 group. The BRG aims to promote
greater understanding of sustainable, healthy building by those commissioning
and undertaking development and refurbishment of buildings. In April
2004 the BRG organised an Affordable Ecohousing Seminar, in co-operation
with the SWL LASP, to explore the opportunities available to Richmond
Council to provide sustainable housing to residents.
Hillingdon Affordable Warmth Group
The group was established to develop Hillingdon’s Affordable
Warmth Strategy. The steering group includes representatives from
a number of local community organisations including Uxbridge Citizens
Advice Bureau, Age Concern, Pension Service, Healthy Hillingdon,
HAVS, and the Housing Benefit and Social Services departments at
Hillingdon Council.
Wandsworth Environment Forum
The Wandsworth Environment Forum comprises of individual residents
and members of community groups. The aim of the Forum is to exchange
experiences and ideas on local environmental issues. The Forum acts
as a liaison between the local community and the Wandsworth Local
Strategic Partnership, providing Wandsworth Council with a steer
on environmental policy matters.
