Safeguard your home against high fuel prices

3rd June 2004

With oil prices reaching a record high this week, and with no sign of a decline, it is inevitable that we will see a marked increase in our home fuel bills this coming winter. It is time to realise the fact that what our society faces is the end of an abundant and cheap oil supply.

However, all is not lost and it is well within our individual powers to do something to remedy this! Whilst we cannot determine how much we pay for our gas and oil, we can determine how efficiently we are using this resource and how much of it we waste or save

The KASH scheme is managed by the Kent Energy Centre and backed by the Kent local authorities, who will monitor the quality of the work, which is carried out by approved installers.

Insulating our homes can reduce the heat lost through external walls and the roof by up to 55% and cut your fuel bills by up to £150 every year. It won't take long to pay back your investment with the help of KASH prices, in some cases not much more than 12 months, and savings on your fuel bills will continue year on year.

Measures such as insulation act as a type of insurance against the unstable price and supply of fuel we currently face and will almost certainly continue to face.

Kent Action to Save Heat (KASH) is a scheme supported by Kent local authorities on which you can obtain significant discounts on home energy improvement measures, such as cavity wall and loft insulation.
