SWITCH ON TO SAVING ENERGY (AND MONEY)

08 November 2005

With rising fuel prices and cold weather on the way it’s easy to worry about fuel bills, but help is at hand.

We all know we should be doing more to save energy but often do not know where to start. That’s why your local Energy Efficiency Advice Centre is conducting a roadshow in Sutton in the coming weeks. Staff at the Advice Centre provide free, impartial and expert advice on saving energy in the home, so you can get face-to-face advice for free at one of their roadshow venues: B&Q Warehouse on 16 November or Sainsburys North Cheam on 28 November.

“Without switching fuel supplier, you could save up to £250 a year by taking some simple measures” said Centre Manager, Tracey Mills. “And you will be doing your bit for the planet at the same time so everyone’s a winner. It’s easy to save your 20% of carbon emissions but we’re here to help you achieve this”. So why not pop along to one of the two roadshow venues between 10am and 4pm?

Energy advisors are on hand to give you expert advice on saving energy in your home, not just this year but year on year. If you complete a free home energy check, you will get a free goody bag and will be sent a personalised energy advice report showing what other areas you need to look at to save energy at home.

If you cannot make it to any of the roadshow venues, free impartial and expert energy advice is also available from your local Energy Efficiency Advice Centre by calling freephone 0800 512012. You can also complete the home energy check online at www.saveyour20percent.co.uk (click on “Get Your Own Report”).

As well as the money saving advantages of course, becoming more energy efficient is good for the environment. Saving energy reduces Carbon Dioxide emissions, which is a key greenhouse gas and contributor to climate change.

For more details on how to save energy and money at home, simply call South West London Energy Efficiency Advice Centre FREE on 0800 512012 or visit www.est.org.uk/myhome/swlondon. By curbing your energy wastage, you will bring your bills down - a welcome relief in these times of ever-rising gas and electricity prices.

The Energy Saving Trust (EST) was set up by the UK Government after the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and is one of the UK’s leading organisations addressing the damaging affects of climate change. It aims to cut carbon dioxide emissions by promoting the sustainable and efficient use of energy. EST is a non-profit organisation funded by government and the private sector.
